Understanding Amoxicillin Liquid: Dosage and Administration

Always follow your doctor’s prescription precisely. The correct dosage depends on your weight, the severity of your infection, and other factors. Never adjust the dosage yourself.

Typical dosages often range from 250mg to 500mg, administered every 8 hours or as directed. Your prescription will clearly state the frequency and total daily dose.

Before administering, gently shake the bottle to ensure even distribution of the medication. Use the measuring device provided – a teaspoon isn’t accurate enough. Ensure the measuring device is level when reading the dosage.

Taking the medication with food can often minimize stomach upset. However, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you experience side effects like nausea or diarrhea.

Complete the entire course of antibiotics, even if you feel better before finishing. Stopping early can allow the infection to return, potentially stronger and more resistant to the medication.

Store the liquid amoxicillin in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Always check the expiration date before using.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it’s almost time for your next dose. Never double up on doses.

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience a severe allergic reaction (such as difficulty breathing, hives, or swelling). Contact your doctor if you have any concerns about the medication or your treatment.
